My opinion has not changed on what my current commercial environment is, however it has shaped more of the direction in where I want to go or perhaps how to go about getting there. Of all the commercial environments, the ones that appeal to me the most are editorial portraiture and commission based portraiture. This is because there seems to eventually become space for artistic freedom in the process, although it might take a long time to get to the point where I would be allowed that freedom.
Looking at the commissioned editorial work produced by Nadav Kander, you can see that he is hired on the basis of his visual style and language. Being one of the most sought after photographers in London, he has put the time in and really developed his practice over the years which reflects in his ability to work with layered color in lighting, his control over the post processing as well as his ability to get what he wants out of a subject.

The commercial environment that probably suits me the most, however I am very interested in the artistry that goes into fashion shoots. It currently seems to have the closest ties to fine art photography, which I think I would find to be more rewarding in the long run. Photographers do get commissioned for campaigns because of their fine art practice, however it seems that in order to be in this position your fine art work needs to be either up and coming or established as part of a cultural trend. That isn’t always the case but it seems that is a majority.

Headway Brief Update
Following our initial meeting with our tutors, the group now had to start deciding on what our actual content was going to be for the pitch.
Where we decided to focus on the concept of hidden identity for our pitch material. Following on from the editorial image picked up in the meeting with the tutors (see Alex Prager image below), the group decided to produce their own versions in the hopes it would display the hidden identity of brain injury.

Along side this, we had decided early on that we needed video content for the pitch. I came up with ideas for video clips, 30 second shorts had been suggested by Jesse in our meeting in week 3 so I wanted to explore that those with a different way of looking at spreading awareness for something very serious and sensitive.
For the videos I had been looking at shorts from Alex Prager as she was the influence for the stills.
The other members of the group had decided that it would be a good idea to involve the headway members in the videos in a workshop format, something which I thought was a nice idea and I thought it would make a good platform for behind the scenes content in the form of interviews as well as stills.
We set goals to have test images for week 5 and a test video for week 6.
